Our philosophy at PMMA is that residents in every level of care should enjoy the way they want to live. To achieve this, we have developed a robust range of programs and activities that promote “holistic wellness.” When seniors are able to focus on physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth, they remain vital and are able to make the most of every day.
Below is just a sampling of the programs and activities PMMA has to offer.
The best way to get to know our communities is to check out the one nearest you. The local sites all have activity calendars and an array of community events every month
Our fitness offerings are one of our most popular programs. From daily aerobics and other classes for our independent living residents, to wellness activities, music therapy and much more for our health care residents, we promote a sound body and mind for all of our residents.
What age do you have to be to start creating amazing works of art? In any of the PMMA senior living communities, you’re free to express yourself and invest in what makes you special. Our friendly teams encourage you to discover and nurture your creative side through our popular and award-winning Art is Ageless® program.
As a faith-based, not-for-profit organization, spiritual life is one of our central pillars. Our senior living communities afford residents countless opportunities to practice their faith as they choose, from onsite chaplains or chapels to a variety of worship services each week. We are proud of our Presbyterian background, but respect people of all faiths and work hard to foster spiritual life for everyone.
Our residents love taking advantage of continuing education courses offered on-site throughout the year. Residents attend lectures, explore our extensive community libraries, and enjoy a host of other activities. Our popular Just Ask Lifelong Learning Series offers educational events on topics of interest to seniors in the broader community as well as our residents. Find a community near you to learn more and see what types of classes are available.
Our senior living communities regularly feature activities involving young people. Whether it’s a youth choir performance and visit, an ongoing program with a local school or regular activities with the on-campus preschool, these pairings of the young and the aged are not by happenstance: there are genuine benefits for the kids, the seniors and the community. For seniors, the positive effects include myriad health benefits in addition to the joy of being around youngsters.
Musical memory is profoundly linked to emotions. In fact, our brains are hard-wired to connect music with long-term memory, and beloved music often calms chaotic brain activity and helps the listener regain connections in the present. Our certified Music and Memory® program taps into this special human attribute. Personalized music playlists, delivered using iPods and other digital audio devices, transform the quality of life for seniors struggling with a range of physical and cognitive impairments.
In addition to hosting special campus events, we provide a regular schedule of day trips and off-site special events. Whether it’s the American Jazz Museum in Olathe, Kansas, the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita, or an outing to Topeka or Kansas City, our residents enjoy the good life in our senior living communities and beyond.
